Summary

The BY-COVID Fest is a face to face event that will host two parallel but strongly connected streams on 23-25 January 2024 in the Hotel Amalia in Athens, Greece. It is organised within the BY-COVID project.

BY-COVID Fest - Training in data sharing and reuse under GDPR IDTk contentathon

Description

The training stream on Data sharing and reuse under GDPR will feature lectures from experts, real-case and demo sessions, and workshops where participants can reflect on and collect experiences, issues and solutions. It aims to empower data users and producers to become confident in submitting or using sensitive data, express their questions and issues to professionals in their institutions, and find solutions for their sensitive data issues.

The IDTk contentathon stream will bring together all those willing to contribute to the Infectious Disease Toolkit (IDTk) pages, especially the attendees of the Data sharing and reuse under GDPR session but not only. Participants will also include IDTk editors, BY-COVID partners, sibling project partners, etc. The contentathon participants will contribute to writing general guidelines for data handling, analysis and visualisations in the context of infectious diseases. We are particularly looking forward to the contributions of our colleagues working with Socioeconomic data, but all the others are welcome to participate.

Preliminary Agenda

Location

The BY-COVID Fest will take place in person at the Hotel Amalia:

10 Amalias Avenue
10557 Syntagma
Athens, Greece

A few accommodation rooms in the same venue have been pre-booked for three nights (arrival on 22/01 and departure on 25/01). You can pre-book your accommodation in the application form.

Travel expenses

The BY-COVID project has set aside funds to cover travel and accommodation expenses of a limited number of attendees who are not BY-COVID consortium members. You will receive information about accommodation and reimbursement of travel expenses once you have been notified of your successful registration. You will be expected to make your own travel arrangements to the venue.

If you are a BY-COVID consortium member:

  • The BY-COVID WP6 will pay for your accommodation in the Hotel Amalia if you choose this option in the application form. You can also stay in another hotel and pay for your accommodation expenses with your own BY-COVID travel funds.
  • You will need to make your own travel arrangements to the venue and cover your travel expenses with your own BY-COVID funds.

Applications

The application is free and open to anyone. While we strive to allow a broad range of participation, due to limited availability of places, we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be able to participate. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2023 before 14:00 CET. You will be informed of your application status (successful, waiting list, unsuccessful) on 4 December 2023, and the successful applicants will receive more information about travel and accommodation simultaneously.
